Family car segment has evolved into many sub categories, now there are SUVs, Sedans and people movers. Where SUVs generally are on the high end of the price list, people movers give you same space, in less price. People movers are generally full of basic features, with not so luxurious elements present in them. They’re purely dedicated to the middle class families, who still consider family time to be precious. KIA has made a good 7 seater car, considering the price. The engine has got fair power to move your family and language. Let us look at the other aspects of the car.
Performance: This people mover is packed with two engine types, depending upon your preference. Power of 133bhp id delivered by 1.6-litre petrol engine and a 1.7-litre diesel, available with 114 or 139bhp power. The engine is moderate, but powerful enough to carry the load of family and luggage, however if you’re expecting it to be fast, that won’t be the case. The petrol engine takes 10.9 seconds for 0-62 MPH, whereas diesel engine takes 13.2 and 10 for respective powered engines. When you will drive the car, it is obvious that it is not for the power wanting people. This car is great when it comes to moderate use of a family car, but fails when you expect it to be fast and powerful, like most of the SUVs.
Steering and suspension: Front suspension is MacPherson struts and rear being Coupled torsion beam axle. Now the real beauty of these pieces is that, no matter how many family members are sitting, they absorbs jerks, and make the ride real smooth. If you test it on the road, you’re going to get mesmerized by the suspension. Coming to the steering, it has turning radius of 5.5 meters, which could be great while taking sharp turns. Steering is smooth, and overall experience inside the cabin is wonderful enough to influence your decision. However, there are lots of cars in the market, with same price tag, that could do better than this.
Features: Carnes Interior has a lot of things to offer than its old model. With all the controls right in drivers approach, smooth experience is guaranteed. Further there is stereo in there with six speakers. There is 4.3 inch touchscreen to guide through media. There are four trim levels, with SR7 version sitting in 1 and 2. Leather seats are there for luxurious feel. Driver seat can be adjusted in 10 ways, making it really comfortable for the driving.
Space: IF all seats are in use, the boot space is about 100 litres, but when you choose to use only 5 seats (read our 7 seater cars review here), boot space increases to 492 litres, now that’s good for heavy luggage. Talking about the first row and second, there are plenty of space in the car, 6 footers can easily feet and relax. There is practically no end to the space in there. This people mover has got what you need, that too for a budget that you could easily cop up with.
