With tonnes of features, comfort and ability to store luggage, this car has easily become a good seller. We test driven the platinum diesel model, and found it be magnificent on the inner, as well as outer side. Let us evaluate the car on every aspect.
Performance: KIA carnival is packed with 2.2L diesel engine with diesel turbo 4 cylinders, having a fuel injection system. The engine delivers maximum power at 147kW @ 3800rpm and maximum torque @ 1750 RPM. When the cabin is full of people and luggage, the engine performs well, and acceleration doesn’t get affected, though the fuel consumption increase to about 2 litre more per 100KM. While riding, the gears are smooth, thanks to 6 speed gear system. They’re made in correct ratio of delivering power and accelerating. The mileage is also good, the diesel engine can deliver you about 7.7L/100km of distance. There are other variants of petrol also, which has a V8 engine of 204 KW power. It uses about 11.6 litres of petrol per 100km. though the petrol variant has better power option, but diesel saves you money.
Steering and Suspension: Driving Carnival is a smooth ride, it turns without any muscle power required. Thanks to RACK & PINION – POWER ASSISTED steering, you can turn the wheel by one hand easily, with turning circle of 11.2 meters. Steering is sensitive and on sharp turns, it is sensitive enough for you to improvise the situations. Suspension is great, and you won’t even realise when you passed those big humps. But 18-19 inch wheels may give problems like being a little vague in centre of the steer. This is not a major problem, and could be solved by changing Korean made tires. Both front and rear suspension are coil spring and gas damper, giving the cabin a stability that people mover needs. Whole car is equipped with disc brakes for better control on the roads.
